Virtual Intro to Java Object-Oriented Programming for Tweens/Teens (Bascom)

3:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Description

This introductory Java course allows students with little to none programming experience to gain an understanding of what programming is like and to help prepare themselves for high school coding classes; this class will also help students discover whether or not they have an interest in programming. This fast-paced program will help students understand the core basics of Java and Object-Oriented Programming.

This class is for children ages 9 to 14.

Important: Please ensure you have a valid email to receive important information; participants will be emailed Zoom information two days prior to the start of class session. Once your child is enrolled, please email Lisa Molson at lisa.molson@sjlibrary.org to confirm you have received all the necessary Zoom information. Participants should not register unless they are able to attend all 8 sessions (sessions will not be recorded so live participation is required to learn the material). Registered participants who miss the first session may lose their spot in the program.

This session will NOT be recorded, nor are participants required to turn on their video. They will also have the option to rename themselves upon entry into the Zoom class session.

Participants will need access to WIFI and a laptop/computer and the class will be held through Zoom. Fifteen minutes prior to the class, please ensure your system's audio is working properly. If interested, you can download or find out more information on Zoom software here.
