Through discussions, presentations, hands-on activities, and research, students explore and develop their presentational skills. This is a 5-day camp curated for students in Grades 5-10. Structured as 2-hour sessions, the program fosters critical thinking about debate and the impact of laws on different communities while also paced specifically for students in Grades 5-10. Students will explore the basics of immigration from a social justice lens, develop argumentative/debate skills, and gain greater confidence and knowledge about public speaking. They will work in pairs to develop their case under the guidance of their instructors. This will culminate in a final debate delivered by the students on the last day of camp. Caregivers are welcome to attend the Friday debates. This camp was created by the local youth-led organization Learn4Justice.

Free. Registration is required. This series is taught in English only.

Debate: Leyes de Inmigración y Desplazamiento

A través de discusiones, presentaciones, actividades prácticas e investigación, los estudiantes explorarán y desarrollarán sus habilidades de presentación. Este campamento de 5 días está diseñado para estudiantes de los grados 5 al 10. Estructurado en sesiones de dos horas, el programa fomenta el pensamiento crítico sobre el debate y el impacto de las leyes en diferentes comunidades, con un ritmo especialmente adaptado para estudiantes de secundaria.

Los participantes aprenderán los conceptos básicos sobre inmigración desde una perspectiva de justicia social, desarrollarán habilidades argumentativas y de debate, y ganarán confianza y conocimiento en el arte de hablar en público. Trabajarán en parejas para desarrollar su caso bajo la guía de sus instructores. El campamento concluirá con un debate final presentado por los estudiantes el último día. Las familias están invitadas a asistir al debate del viernes.

Từ 23-27 tháng 6 năm 2025, lúc 3-5 giờ chiều

Qua các cuộc thảo luận, thuyết trình, hoạt động thực hành và nghiên cứu, học sinh sẽ khám phá và phát triển các kỹ năng thuyết trình của mình. Đây là trại hè kéo dài 5 ngày dành cho các học sinh từ Lớp 5 đến Lớp 10. Được tổ chức thành các buổi học kéo dài trong 2 giờ, chương trình thúc đẩy tư duy phản biện về tranh luận và tác động của luật đối với các cộng đồng khác nhau, đồng thời được thiết kế cụ thể cho học sinh Lớp 5 đến Lớp 10. Học sinh sẽ khám phá những điều cơ bản về nhập cư theo góc nhìn công lý xã hội, phát triển các kỹ năng biện luận/tranh luận và tự tin hơn cũng như có thêm kiến ​​thức về việc nói trước công chúng.

Các em sẽ làm việc theo cặp đôi để mở rộng trường hợp của mình dưới sự hướng dẫn của giảng viên. Điều này sẽ kết thúc bằng cuộc tranh luận cuối cùng do học sinh trình bày vào ngày cuối cùng của trại hè. Các phụ huynh được chào đón tham dự các cuộc tranh luận vào Thứ Sáu.
