Description

Join our Readers' Book Club to share the joy of reading and to expand your reading horizons. We will read thought-provoking adult fiction of various genres for readers of different ages and background. We will be reading five different titles in 2026:

The Snows of Kilimanjaro and other stories by Ernest Hemingway

Unlikely Animals by Annie Hartnett, a Silicon Valley Reads fiction selection

Station Eleven by Emily St John Mandell

The Good Lord Bird by James McBride

Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson

What to Expect:

For the month of April, we will be reading The Good Lord Bird by James McBride. This novel follows Henry Shackleford, a young slave living in the Kansas Territory in 1856 -- a battleground between anti- and pro- slavery forces -- when legendary abolitionist John Brown arrives. When an argument between Brown and Henry's master turns violent, Henry is forced to leave town -- along with Brown, who believes Henry to be a girl and his good luck charm.

Read along to find out what happens and we will discuss The Good Lord Bird, together. I am looking forward to hear what you think.
