1922. Six months after Matthew's tragic death, his loss is still felt throughout Downton Abbey. Mary struggles to face a new future with her fatherless child, and is encouraged by the family to pick up the pieces. Accepting a new role on the estate, the now-eligible Mary also finds herself the reluctant object of attention from a number of eager suitors. With the twenties in full swing and the tides of change sweeping through Downton, Rose's continued attraction to the bright lights of London spells trouble for the Crawleys, and Edith's budding relationship with Michael Gregson is threatened by events beyond her control. Meanwhile, below stairs, passions run high and young hearts look set to be broken.

I probably shouldn't admit that I only planned on watching the first episode or two of the series to see if I'd like it, and I wound up watching all 6 seasons in one week. But, well. There ya' go.

An engrossing series following the Crawley family and their servants. Treats everyone with respect, no caricatures here.

Yep, plenty of trials and tribulations. New characters keep the relationships fresh.

This is a wonderful series! The acting is superb, Maggie Smith is fabulous, as always. Each character is played as though he or she is a person you know. Sometimes it's 'laugh-out-loud' funny, and sometimes a tear rolls down my cheek. I look forward to further series.

Fabulous of course, one thing I do is watch it with closed captions so I don't miss a word of dialogue while taking in the costumes, jewelry, furnishings and plot lines. karen

My Wife and I enjoyed it. It is better than the faux reality shows.

A time that no longer exists.........

Sept 10 2014....just finished watching the 2 episode....I still love this show. One of the things I love, is how they express themselves. Arguments were just so sophisticated back then. (And apologies much more freely given!)....then there is the acting, costumes, landscapes, mysteries, and humour. This show has it all. (.....and with clothes on......!)......Sept 12.....ewww....part 3 just left me on the edge of my seat......more, more....pleeease!........Alas, it is now the early morning hours of Sept 13.....I am weak, and couldn't pull myself away (just finished watching part 6 and it's 4:30 in the morning.) Well I guess there has to be some fun in a September where it SNOWS on the 8th and takes more than two days to MELT!.....I'm even weaker than I thought, I just slipped in the last disc, and I'm thrilled to see that there are TWO more parts.....I thought there would be only one. Now I will be mad if today is a warm and sunny one, and I spend it in bed. I think I'll just watch 10 more minutes (ha) and then hit the hay, so I don't miss the day. (whoops, sorry about that!).....5:51......I will not hit that play button again.....only the season finale to go, I must save it for when my eyelids are not so heavy.......(later) 3:30 pm, just finished the finale,.....they are so sweet.....didn't leave me hanging, just with a hankering for more, which I can live with. Looking forward to Season 5.
