I actually like the snare drum because it sounds so raw while still retaining that high quality shimmer only found in a professional studio. Its like they created some type of a snare drum, pot/pan hybrid instrument.
This album sounds so ******* angry from beginning to end and I love it.
Such a unique album that can only be described by itself.

There are some good songs on this album but I cannot listen to it because of the atrocious drum sound. Drums sound terrible and are overmixed so that is all I can hear when I try to listen to this one. Try to listen now that I've brought this up! I bet if you didn't notice it before you will not be able to focus on anything but the drum sound now! .......sorry.

The St.Anger album suffers from a horrible drum sound/production where Lars Ulrich attempted to mimic playing on garbage cans!
Even with a lack of guitar solos, half the songs are okay, and you can actually enjoy them with a much improved sound on the bonus live rehearsal in a studio DVD using their new bassist Robert Trujillo (ex-Suicidal Tendencies).
Their producer Bob Rock played bass on the album.
