Saw this at the movies and loved every minute of it! The surprise twist at the end was one I did not see coming.

There were parts where the plot lost momentum but there are parts with very good content either and the ending was very good even though I could guess, still it gave me teary eyes. The ending was jolly, funny and heart warming. The ending was very good that I gave this film overall 4.5 stars.

I balled my eyes out....was a beautiful storyline about love, sacrifice, charity and humility.
Enjoyed it even more because i didn't pick the ending and the twist was something i didn't see coming. Well worth a watch :)

Pretty good film. I was almost correct about the twist. Can’t say more because would spoil it. Loved the actors in this movie. Such a great cast. Worth a watch.

A comedy drama about a self-loathing, self-centered and irresponsible young woman Kate (Emilia Clarke) bumps into a mysterious man Tom (Henry Golding). From their heart to heart talks and walking about London's quirky nooks and crannies, she finds joy in helping others, and happiness to being herself among friends and family. The twist towards the final act is stealthily creative and superbly satisfying to end this magical Christmas story. Big kudos to screen writers Emma Thompson (the 1995 Sense and Sensibility screen play as well) and her husband in calling attention to the ugliness of anti immigrant prejudice of some Londoners. The bonus clips are fun to watch, especially the clip on Kate's new gig.

This was a surprisingly great movie. Not light Christmas fluff, but a funny, well acted slug in the gut. I love movies that surprise me. This one did. I was sitting there waiting to see what comes next, when it suddenly all came together. I was in tears from one moment to the next. Emma Thompson was amazing as a crazy immigrant mother. Michelle Yeoh as a Christmas obsessed shop owner was equally so. The story was put together quite well. Without giving anything away, I don't think I will ever be able to hear or read "My heart was always going to be yours." without tearing up.

I wanted to like this movie so much more! I didn't agree with the twist, but oh well. The cast is good, but that twist I didn't see coming.

Not movie-of-the-year but I don't think they tried to be. It was just fun to watch and nice way to kill an evening. We will for sure put this one in our Christmas movie rotation.

This unconventional rom-com features the musical stylings of George Michael (including some of his unreleased works). The song 'Last Christmas' has always been my favorite non-traditional Christmas tune and the film features a thrilling sing-along rendition of it towards the ending. If you find yourself not enjoying the story of Kate and Tom, at least fast forward to the end to hear an amazing rendition of a very popular Christmas song.

Tom: Are elves always so cynical?
Kate: Yes. Relentlessly. These are dark times.

Come for this rom-com starring Henry Golding and Emilia Clarke, but stay for the theme song, "Last Christmas" by George Michael, that will stay in your head on repeat for weeks following this movie. :)

There are a few more. This is the scene when mom, daughter in the doctor's office:

Doc: So, tell me about the diet. Keeping up with the fruit and veg?
Daughter: Yeah, fine.
Mom: She's eating rubbish when she is outside. When she's at home, she's eating my food, and it's good.

Doc: I'm sure it is. What about sleep?
Daughter: It's all right.
Mom: She never sleeps.

Doc: Exercise?
Daughter: Religiously.
Mom: Not at all.

Doc: Alcohol?
Daughter: Every once in a while.
Mom: Oh, she's drinking like the pirate.

Doc: You say you're okay.
Daughter: Yep.
Doc: And your mother says the opposite. Who do I believe?
Daughter: Me, obviously.
Mom: Me, the mother, of course.
Are they mice?
- Yeah, I think so.
There must be a story attached to them. I'll have to find out one day.

Tom: It's good luck you know.

Kate: What is?

Tom: Getting pooed on by a bird.

Kate: I'm busy, you're weird, good-bye!
