Jun 22, 2020AMWayment rated this title 3 out of 5 stars
Book #23 for 2020 was The Lies That Bind by Emily Giffin. This was my first Emily Giffin book. It’s hard to give this book a rating. I liked the first half; the second half had a lot going on. There is a plot point involving 9/11, which upset a lot of people. I found the second half of the book to be kind of a mess, there was so much going on, and none of the characters were not particularly lovable. The best summary I can give of the story is that Cecily and Matthew broke up after he couldn’t commit after years of dating. Soon after, Cecily meets Grant in a New York bar and they have an immediate connection. They begin a whirlwind romance and then 9/11 happens. Grant goes missing, and then the “Lies” in the title start coming out of the woodwork. I guess I would give it 3 stars and hope that my next Giffin book is better!
