SJPL Picks: Love Stories

Romance is all fine and dandy, but let's face it- falling in love usually doesn't go the way it does in a romance novel. In romance, the love interest is a true dream boat, and problems to overcome are easily conquered by love's intensity; you can usually expect a happy ending. In reality love stories can be messy and often bittersweet (or even just plain bitter). Humans are flawed, relationships take work and devotion to last, and some problems are too tough for true love to overcome. If you adore reading a love story in all its warm, messy, earth-turning, joyous, heart-wrenching, and devastating glory, these picks are for you. All these reads are Love Stories, but secondary genres are indicated in notes as applicable. Selected and curated by SJPL Librarians.
